All behind me

Today the Leaving Cert Results are coming out. Thousands of teeny twats all waiting to see if they are just as dumb as the rest of the world thinks they really are. And I have only one thought about the whole affair:

Thank God it is so far behind me.

I remember waiting for my results many moons ago and coming up with all sorts of ideas in my head on what I would do if I didn't get the points I wanted and blah blah blah. All the stress and pressure applied, all because the teachers keep saying over and over and over again that it is "THE MOST IMPORTANT EXAM YOU WILL EVER SIT".

I call bullshit on that one.

Compared to my first year exams in college the LC is nothing but a year long, all consuming, pain in the ass. Yea it helps you get into college, but the odd thing is mature students can get into the same course based on an interview. All you have to do to be a mature student is be 23 or older. But the teachers never tell you this, because it would take the pressure off and then their pass/fail rates would go down and their school would be less appealing to new students.

The exams you sit in college are insanely more hard and important than the LC. Yes you can argue that this is because they are designed for college but that would then mean the LC should be a lot easier than it is.

For me, the most important exam I ever sat was my driving test. I can't kill a person with a maths book (well I could if I tried really hard) but I can with a car and a driving license.

To anybody reading this getting their results today: Best of luck, it ain't all over just because you missed out on a few points, your teachers all lied to you about how important the exam really is and at the end of the day you can always repeat it.
