Bed Bugs?

04-03-2009

Man I am having some amount of trouble sleeping this last month and a bit. I have no idea what is causing it but it is getting crazy. I'm eating right, nothing is on my mind or bothering me, I can't spell stress (that's a joke people, clearly I can but I have no stress), comedy is going well.

Yet no sleep.

I can be tossing around (no dirty jokes people) in the bed for two hours before I might fall asleep and then when I wake up in the morning I am more tired than I was the night before.

I'm not dreaming, but then you aren't meant to remember your dreams all the time anyway, but I can't recall having one for a few weeks now.

Apparently I even started roaring in my sleep last night. Poor H got an earful of screams with no words as she returned home last night. Passing by my door she didn't quite know what to make of it.

It's always a pain in the ass when you have to apologise for something you don't remember even doing.

Funny thing on the radio this morning as well. If ever there was a clear sign that the entire government needs to go back to school and learn basic maths it is this.

A Green TD suggested a 1 cent levy on all texts messages to help raise money to run the country. Fair enough, not a bad idea that. She reckons it will bring in 1.3 billion euro. Okay, I will take your word for it.

Except that she then said that, on average, 250 million text messages are sent in Ireland every year. Now somebody correct me if I am wrong, but 250 million cents is not 1.3 billion euro.

Good god in heaven, no wonder we are so bad at the moment. The TDs are running around thinking they have billions of euro in their pocket when it is really only a fiver.

Morons!

Not to mention there will be a raise in taxes at the end of the month. That is all well and good as well I guess, except the logic behind this is just as fucking stupid. They need to raise taxes because they didn't bring in as much money as they thought and can't figure out why. The fact that people are losing jobs in the thousands per week means less people paying tax you dopes.

But the best was that despite all their talk and pomp about cut backs and tightening belts the minister for Finance's own department increased costs by 700 million euro in a two month period.

Sweet zombie jesus we have the biggest collection of inbreds running this country. Can't wait to see the tax increases, no doubt it will be enough to ensure the TD gets a full pay of five times Barrack Obama, but hey, we all have to tighten our belts.

Right?

Although one thing I am loving is this word levy. Suddenly everything is becoming a levy. Text Levy. Income Levy. Why the new buzz word? Well I had it explained. With tax you can claim against it. For example rent allowance is claimed against the tax you pay. But a levy is a form of taxation, not tax itself. That way you cannot claim against it at all. Wait and see. Suddenly tax will disappear from your payslip entirely and be replaced with just a levy for the same amount, but you won't be getting that rent allowance or mortgage assist anymore.

I had more stuff to rant about, this one for Eircom, but that can wait until tomorrow.
