Twenty Two
20-03-2009Did my first long gig last night and if I do say so myself it went very well. It wasn't nearly as tough a crowd as I thought it was going to be, there was actually quite a few seats with bums in them.
The set up of the club is a little strange, you can't really hear the laughs (they were laughing dammit) but you can see everyone laughing. It is like watching a movie with mute turned on.
One thing I did enjoy about last night was that I remembered the entire twenty odd minutes of material without getting stuck or having to pause and think for a few seconds. I modified a few jokes to have links that flowed a little better than just the random stuff, but it worked well. I ended on a laugh which is always brilliant because you walk away with a little ego boosting knowing that something went right.
Plus the guy that runs the club said the set was good, as did some of the other comics that I know from around the circuit.
Sadly though my regular comedy haunt has closed its doors due to a load of hassle. This is crap because it means I have nothing to do/nowhere to hang on Friday and gigs are going to be a little tougher to find. Two of the gigs I had coming up are now no more.
Guess I will just have to start touring.
