Vacation - Holiday - Who Cares

11-12-2009

I appear to be getting a lot of flak lately over a misuse of a word. I used the word "vacation" in place of "holiday" and have since been called many things. The most insulting of which was "American".

I think I can justify myself though. Because I work for an American company you find that a lot of the terminology used is American. So the odd phrase you hear repeatedly in the office sort of gets stuck in your head. Ergo the lil vacation/holiday slip up.

But have no fear because in the grand scheme of things I don't care. I won't be in the office again from the end of this working day until January 6th 2010. A size-able break from work (can we all agree on that phrase without comment?) it has to be said. So you can call it "Jester sitting in his PJ's until four in the afternoon" for all I care, the end result will be the same.

Me. Not Working. Relaxing.

Last night I finished typing chapter two of the new book, so the plot is cooking nicely in the oven of my computer.

I also got around to decorating The Bauble for the festive season. More a token gesture than anything proper that took ages to do, but I think it isn't entirely bad. Actually we all know that is a lie, I think it could be better. But I am trying to not always think like that. Next year I will make more of an effort to create a better Christmas theme.

Now I got to get some proper work done, because I finish for my holidays at the end of the day. Not sure if I mentioned that yet. Did I mention that? That I finish for.....

Vacation: a period of suspension of work, study, or other activity, usually used for rest, recreation, or travel

Holiday: A day free from work that one may spend at leisure, especially a day on which custom or the law dictates a halting of general business activity to commemorate or celebrate a particular event

Your terminology is more apt :) See how i stick up for ya ;)
