Eircom Earnings

Not a long rant this time, just something that I am finding hilarious. I got my refund cheque from Eircom today for the security deposit that they never told me up front I would have to pay. Since I changed providers this money is now mine once again. I knew they had messed up the figure before now, because I got my last bill which basically detailed the refund figure and said all my other account info was fine and fully paid.

I paid them a deposit of one hundred euro.

I am being refunded a deposit of one hundred and five euro.

See the billing system doesn't know the difference between negative numbers (as in refunds) and amounts due (as in your bill). So when they entered in that I was being refunded the billing system calculated the VAT on my refund and then added that to the figure.

Got to love little things like that happening. True it is only five euro, but I figure after all the agro I had to deal with just trying to get broadband from them it is mine to keep.

I'm not going to hell for this act people, I am already there so long that at this stage I am just picking out the wallpaper for my office.
