V-Day

14-02-2010

Now, I could go on another Hallmark bashing rant, but I won't because that is what they want you to do. Instead I will just leave this as a nice rant that goes on about how relaxed my weekend was.

See, aside from the day of Cupid that is Sunday, this is the first weekend in many weekends that I have had nothing planned. Neither had the lady friend. So the pair of us were able to just relax and unwind and enjoy ourselves and for once having a weekend that wasn't hectic.

My weekend began on Friday when I came home from work to find that the lady had cooked me a damn tasty dinner (complete with homemade white choc chip cookies for dessert) and a selection of guy films to watch afterwards. Bombs, explosions, a home cooked meal. What more could a guy want?

What did I do to warrant such a treat? Well, the lady felt that since Feb 14th is traditionally a day for the girls (let's not beat around the bush, she has a point) that I should have a day dedicated to the guy side of things.

We even played a game on the Xbox together that she hates to play.

Pure guy bliss.

But I couldn't be a selfish git and not return the favour on the girl side of the weekend could I? So this morning I made her breakfast in bed, this afternoon we went and had a lazy lunch out and just now I served up a nice dinner.

Give and take, it is what makes relationships work.

Thank God I found a lady in this world that doesn't demand roses, doesn't expect you to cook on this day of the year but is impressed when you offer to off your own back, a gal that isn't expecting a diamond as the only real way of expressing your feelings.

Sorry to all the dudes out there that are stuck with gals like that, bet you lot didn't get to watch "Gamer" followed by a round of Halo this weekend.

Sucks to be you! (insert evil laughter)

You had a very romantic day for me Poco, best Valentines ever, it takes effort to impress a girl with something other than the bog standard suggestions such as roses chocolates and diamonds. I bet no other girl got freshly made pancakes for breakfast in bed this morning :) x
