Comedy Aftermath

Had the gig last night, complete with the mother fucking migraine that just would not budge. Even after downing two red bulls before the show it still lingered on like some one night stander that just can't take the hint.

Overall the show was a bucket of mixed bits.

For a start the crowd was fairly...small. As in of the fifteen people there about twelve of them were either comics performing on the night or comics just along to watch the show. In fact there was the lady friend and two other people that were the only non comics in the seats.

But sure that's why we do it. The attempt at working on a small crowd.

Three is a small crowd.

Since this was my first gig in a while and one of the few I will probably get before the contest, I figured I would just run with my seven minute set. Practise, get reactions, leave it at that. I could have gone on longer if I wanted, called on older material, but that wasn't what I wanted the gig for.

So I got up, got my self ready and started to make with the funny.

I had finally come up with a cold open about an hour before the actual gig and from the video I asked the lady friend to take for me it worked well enough.

Grand, first laugh out of the way.

I forgot one joke from my first story, which is annoying, but hammered through the rest of the material and despite the small crowd got some chuckles and laughs. Enough to indicate that if there were more people in the seats I would be getting some good reactions.

Being slightly lazy the last joke of my set is a slightly modified joke I have used before, but it fits in well with the overall material so who cares.

I wasn't all that happy with the gig myself, but then I am my own worst critic. But feedback from the lady, some other comics and the Comedy Dublin folk was all positive enough. Now I can hone the set a little, practise it some more. Might even try and get a few more gigs so I can try it out on some more crowds before the actual contest night.

Now I am off to poo on a stick. No joke, more on that tomorrow
