One thing I have been meaning to fix on The Bauble for a while is the Gallery section. When I first coded it up it had been meant as a stop gap measure, something to just fire pictures up to when the need arose.

Admittedly it is nothing fancy. It isn't a Light Box or any of those other wonderful Javascript based gallery things. In fact it is more like the original album that Facebook used to have. A simple "click to load up a new picture" deal.

It served the purpose well. But sadly that purpose is no longer what I want from it.

A while ago I got back into art, in particular painting and pencil drawings. With the help of my graphics tablet I was making some nice images, but I couldn't upload them to The Bauble. For a number of reasons, the main two being that the Gallery code was still in dire need of a rework and that I hadn't gotten around to actually being able to create proper albums.

Something of a design oversight you might say.

Then my year got kinda hectic. I had four weddings. I had a funeral. I bought a house with the lady friend and had a move in there as well. I had a few other websites that needed attention and a handful of other things cropped up.

Finally I am, after all that madness, finding some time to sit down and redesign the Gallery section. It will primarily be background stuff, stuff you guys won't even see. To be honest I may or may not attempt to make it a bit more fancy when viewing pictures. I have no problem leaving it as a click-and-reload viewer, but I have had it voiced by some people that they wouldn't mind seeing that improved.

Little steps first though.

Main goal at the minute is to get the Gallery up to a working state that I am happy with. At least up to the stage that I can create albums in it.

This is a two-fold desire. Firstly because it would be nice to keep the images from getting cluttered and, more importantly, I want to upload some images of the house to The Bauble. At the minute they are up on Facebook, but that isn't the same for me.

I am aiming to get this little project done inside of a month, but let's not set that into stone just yet.

Ah feature creep, you got to love it.
