Coding Blur

01-09-2012

Today was my first proper day off work in two weeks. Work has been pretty hectic with various projects and one in particular that I was working on had deadlines shifted around the place like the borders of Europe during a World War. What once was a nice and distant problem suddenly became a migraine inducing nightmare involving a number of late nights. The worst in particular being last Friday when I worked until two in the morning, getting home past three. Which would have been bad enough if not that seven hours later I was woken by my phone ringing, a request to get back online for another eight hours of work on Saturday.

Ah the working world.

So today is the hours given back to me for last week, time in lieu. I still have nearly two and a half days of time in lieu to get back as well. But having worked the last two Fridays until the small hours I decided that I was going to take this one off.

Apparently my migraines decided they did not want to miss out on the fun.

So I've had a migraine all day that I have been nursing with tablets and coffee, with the best of intentions being to get an early night. Be in the sack before one in the morn.

A plan that, as I type this rant, is not going to happen. Unless I also discover time travel and tip back five minutes.

What happened to ruin this plan?

Well there was a good movie on the old idiot box in the corner of the room, which I figured I would watch. Also after meeting up with The Brother a few weeks back I have a list of coding changes to make on Half Baked Potatoes. I figured while I watched the movie I might as well make the changes.

Movie ended and I kept coding. The old concept of time is really bad when I get sucked into these coding holes. Just didn't realise how late it had gotten.

On the upside the new feature is working fine. Better than I expected it to even. Now all I need is for him to sign off on it and it can be rolled out into the main site.

So before I start doing anymore code (because I've an idea I want to start working on for The Bauble) I think I shall call it a night.
