Drawing Bad

Right. I seem to have gotten into something of a ranting rut lately. It is a strange combination of being busy and not having time to actually rant, not having anything to actually rant (both in the old fashioned venting and the more generic format) about and having things that I can't really rant about until later in time.

So yea, I really gotta try and sort that out. Find / make time to rant, even if they are just waffle-based entries.

Lucky for you, dear reader who is clearly bored and has nothing better to be reading on THE ENTIRE INTERNET, this is not going to be a pure waffle rant.

Only all that shite above.

Anyroad, I haven't had a whole lot of time to do drawing/art/painting lately. This annoys me, because the longer between projects the worse I get. Plus I seem to just loose all pencil/sketching skills if I go a solid week without doodling. It's really strange.

End result, I made some time this week to put together this little piece.

As per usual it began in the sketch pad.


Pencil of Walter White, based on a promo poster for season four.

This was based off a promotional poster for a season of "Breaking Bad".

But, as usually happens, when it was "inked" some elements of the picture changed.

Despite being happy with the pencil work I still tweaked it. Thank God for digital artwork I tell ya, otherwise I'd be forever erasing things.


Flat coloured picture.

Just the flat colours, nothing special. But this is the first picture I've coloured in where the person had glasses on. So I wanted to do that correctly, thankfully layers in Illustrator make it easy to get the desired result.

Then just to finish the whole thing off I did some shading.

All in, I'm actually pretty happy with this turned out. I fired it up onto Instagram and seemingly random people like it as well.

I may be a little addicted to Instagram, it has to be said .
